On Monday morning, we went to collect our rental car - which was to be a “Ford Focus or similar”. They saw me coming, because there was a Mini parked right outside the front door of the rental place. “We’d love to take more of your money, sir” they said, and we were on our way to Yosemite National Park in that very Mini.
192 miles of America
There’s not that much to say about Yosemite - it’s a national park, it’s very big, and it’s not very flat. Instead, look at the pretty pictures (click for bigger versions).
For photography geeks, I bought a new lens just before we went out there - a Canon 24-105mm f/4 L IS lens. The important letters in that lot are L and IS - L means it’s a very high quality lens, and IS means it has image stabilisation. IS lets me take long exposure shots like the ones of the waterfalls below without a tripod - they were all taken handheld at 1/10th of a second or so. ‘Tis a very, very cool lens.
